Children's Ministry
Acolytes
Children who are 8 years old and older are invited to serve as acolytes—candle lighters at the beginning and end of every service. This opportunity is also open to youth and even adults.
Classes For Children
Children’s classes are provided during the 10:30 a.m. service. The goal of these classes is to help children connect their lives to God through Jesus Christ and grow in Christian faith in a safe and nurturing environment by:
-
Developing their spiritual habits such as prayer, service to others, and regular attendance at Sunday School and worship
-
Teaching them scripture, Bible stories, music and the rituals of faith
-
Providing them with mission opportunities so that they may become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Children start out in worship with their parents and then go to their classrooms following the Children’s Message. There is Nursery available from the beginning of the service for our littlest folks.
Lenten Fair
One Sunday, during Lent, the Children’s Ministry team presents a Lenten Fair following the 10:30 a.m. worship service. There are Lenten and Easter themed activities for all ages including egg dyeing, pretzel dipping, face painting and many others. Lunch is available.
Vacation Bible School
Each year, usually in June, we offer a week-long bible school children from the church and the Ypsilanti area.
