The Spiritual Path Class continues today – Check out this class with Rev. Ernesto Mariona.  He will talk about love without conditions, the power of meditation, the law of attraction, etc.  The class is open to anyone interested in exploring spirituality and deepening their prayer life.  No pre sign-up is necessary—just come to the class.

First Quarter Financial Statements are now available to be picked up on the round table in the Rotunda.

Last time to sign up for hosting IHN at Alpha House.  Volunteers are needed from Monday, May 12 to Sunday, May 18 for meal preparation, serving and evening and overnight hosting.  Food should be prepared at home and taken to the church for delivery to ALPHA HOUSE, or food may be delivered to Alpha House.   Sign up at social hour.

Opportunities to Help with VIM Trip to Cali, Colombia –
You, too can become a shareholder of the VIM mission team to Cali, Colombia (May 23rd-June 6th).  Be a part of this mission and ministry with the Colombians in the San Marcos School and Church and the church in Remansos.  (Both are located in extremely poor areas of Cali, population three-million plus.)  A donation entitles to you a shareholder ribbon and a report from the team when we return.

If you would like to donate school and sewing supplies for the VIM Group to take with them when they go to Cali, here is a list of what is needed:
Pencils, Erasers, Pens, Clay (play dough), Colored pencils (no crayons, please), Construction paper (no other paper or notebooks), Glue, Glitter, Scissors (round points), Stickers, Rulers Pencil sharpeners, Needles, Scrap material, Thread.  [Note that the sewing supplies were not in an earlier list.]  Please bring school and sewing supplies to the church by Monday, May 19th.  ¡Muchas Gracias

There are now five FUMC campers and a friend who have registered for camp this summer. Lydia Basinger, Grace Carey, Angela Mike-Elston, Erika Myers, Ericka Tapia (friend of Erika Myers) and Tabari Iverson will be loading up their back packs and heading for camp.  Has your child registered for camp?  Summer will be here soon.  Remember to have Rev. Carey sign the registration form and put a copy of the form in the Education box in the office so that the Camp fund can reimburse you for a percentage of the camp fee.  If you have any question, please see Irene Jacobs or call her at 734-485-4514

Nursery Caregivers Needed - Here’s the opportunity to serve your church family.  If you enjoy interacting with infants and toddlers, here is the chance to spend one hour on Sunday mornings in the nursery.  If you can donate one hour per month or one month every 3 months, please contact Irene Jacobs at 734-485-4514.

May 11 - Mother’s Day—no Challenge Class.  

May 18 – Come and learn more about the local Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative's Mentoring Program. We'll hear from Mentor Mary Heinen and MPRI Graduate Lessie Brown.  Washtenaw County has one of the highest recidivism rates in the state - 76% compared to the 43% state-wide average. MPRI seeks to reduce crime by implementing a seamless plan of services and supervision developed with each offender from the time they enter prison through their transition, reintegration, and aftercare in the community. Returning citizens come back to the community needing housing, employment, substance abuse treatment, and most of all- support from the community. Volunteers who serve as mentors provide crisis intervention and help build a support network for up to one year.  This program saves taxpayers money in addition to individual lives and futures.

May 25 – Memorial Day—no Challenge Class

Promotion Sunday and the Sunday School Brunch will be Sunday, June 8.  Please mark this date on your calendar.

Graduation Sunday is June 15, 2008.  If you know of anyone who is graduating from high school or college, please call the church office before Wednesday, June 4.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 16 from 5:00 – 7:45 p.m.  Volunteers are needed.  If you would like to volunteer, contact Brooke Gates or Irene Jacobs.
